A County Court Judgment on your credit file does not automatically block a mortgage. Whether it may be possible depends on how recent the CCJ is, whether it is satisfied, its value, your deposit, income and how you have handled credit since. High street lenders often decline CCJs automatically. Specialist lenders take a more considered view, and matching the right lender to your situation first time protects your credit file from repeated applications.
We work with the whole market, including specialist lenders who consider CCJ applicants that high street banks would decline. A CCJ on its own is not the full picture. What matters is the surrounding detail: when it was registered, whether it has been settled, its value, the number of CCJs on your file, and how you have been managing credit since.
We regularly help clients whose CCJs are recent, historic, satisfied or unsatisfied, low-value or into the thousands. A single small CCJ from a parking fine can often go through with a fairly mainstream lender. A larger or more recent CCJ usually needs a specialist. Either way, applying to the wrong lender first can add hard searches to your file and make the next application harder.

Adverse credit mortgages are not a sideline for us. Cases involving CCJs, defaults, IVAs, DMPs and bankruptcy discharges are a core part of what we do, and we have helped thousands of clients through them.
You will work with qualified, named advisors who explain things honestly, including when the timing is not yet right. We would rather give you a straight answer than send you towards a rejection.
Yes, in many cases it may be possible. It depends on how recent the CCJ is, whether it is satisfied, the value and how many you have, plus your deposit, income and wider credit conduct. Specialist lenders regularly consider applicants with CCJs where high street lenders decline automatically.
Usually, yes. A satisfied CCJ shows lenders you resolved the debt, which reassures them and widens your choice of lender. Some lenders require settlement before offering. Others will still consider an unsatisfied CCJ, typically with a larger deposit.
There is no single waiting period. Some specialist lenders will consider you almost immediately, particularly for low-value or satisfied CCJs. As the CCJ ages, more lenders open up. A CCJ drops off your credit file after six years, at which point mainstream options become widely available again.
It does. A low-value CCJ (a couple of hundred pounds) can often go through with fairly mainstream lenders even while unsatisfied. Larger CCJs typically need specialist lenders. The specialist market is not usually capped by value, so even a substantial CCJ may be workable.
Specialist lenders often price for the additional risk, so rates can be a little higher than for a clean credit file. The gap narrows as your CCJ ages and your conduct stays clean, and remortgaging onto a better rate later is often possible.
5% and 10% deposits can work in some situations, especially where the CCJ is low value or well satisfied. Deposits of 15% or more open up considerably more lenders and usually better rates.
No. An initial conversation and a look at your situation is a soft enquiry and leaves no mark on your credit file. A hard search only happens later, with your permission, when you formally apply to a specific lender.

Think carefully before securing debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or any other debt secured on it.
